Daniel Nichols Architects typically pursues a project warranting a carefully minded solution. Our design philosophy is based on listening to, exploring and synthesizing the needs of our client with the demands of the site to provide a uniquely informed design. A concept called the Pattern Language informs our thinking leading to a fully integrated building that speaks and responds to its surroundings. Good buildings promote well-being and life.
We are greatly interested and versed in sustainable and green architecture. We side on effective and efficient, yet proven materials guiding our client through the many choices a project demands. Our buildings are characterized by the interplay of balanced and proportional spaces making the most of natural light and orientation to the solar path. Annual solar angles are a major factor in our studies. Progressive technology and innovation are incorporated from the beginning of the process to insure a working building system.
Our services include site evaluation, programming, master planning, design documentation, permitting, contractor selection and oversight of construction. We work with a proven team of design consultants and engineers providing our office with everything from soils investigation, topography and surveying to structural and civil engineering. Landscape architecture is considered integral. We have a broad range of interior and exterior sources for unique finishes, including sustainable materials and products researched for greater life-cycle and customer satisfaction.
Daniel has served as the President of the American Institute of Architecture Redwood Empire Chapter. 2005-2006 and is Certified in Green Architecture by UC Davis Extension.
